FC-501 cable builder

Design the cable between the FC-501's 26-pin main connector and your vehicle. Choose what plugs in for each CAN bus, including two buses on one OBD-II plug, add Ethernet, serial and I/O leads, and set every length. Download the spec as a PDF, or send it to us for a quote.

    Your cable

Schematic, not to scale. Swipe sideways to see the whole cable. Select a branch to edit it. Faces show the mating plug, with the pins this cable uses highlighted.

    Wire list

Check three things on the vehicle.

    Which connector it has

Use the CAN connector finder to identify the diagnostic port, and its pinout pages to check which pins carry each bus.

Which pins carry a second bus

Pins outside the standard pair differ by maker and model year. Confirm custom OBD-II pins against the vehicle's wiring diagram before ordering.

    Where the bus is terminated

The FC-501 has no internal CAN termination. At a diagnostic port the vehicle already terminates the bus; add a terminator only at an open bus end.

Wire gauges are matched to the FC-501 contacts and the vehicle-end connector, and we confirm part numbers with you before building any cable. Questions? Talk to sales.
