FC-101 Battery Tracker Quick Start Guide

Before you start: Your FC-101 ships in a deep-sleep Shipping Mode for transit. It won’t appear online until you physically move or “touch” it to wake it — keep that in mind during setup.

Installation & Activation

Mount it and bring it online.

Choose a mounting location

Pick a spot on the asset — trailer, container, or heavy machinery. For best GPS and cellular reception, keep the antenna side (the face opposite the mounting surface) with a relatively clear view of the sky.

Mount it

Attach the unit with industrial double-sided tape (clean, dry surface first) or run cable ties through the integrated mounting slots to secure it to the asset frame.

Wake it from Shipping Mode

The unit ships in a deep-sleep state for transit. Physically move or “touch” it to wake it. It then acquires a GPS fix (up to ~4 minutes) and connects to the cellular network (up to ~5 minutes).

Managing Your Device

All device management and data visualisation happen on the imatrixsys.com portal. Log in with your credentials and find your device by its IMEI — a traffic-light status shows its connection state:

Green — online and synchronised with the latest settings.

Yellow — online, but a configuration change is pending the next check-in.

Black — has not yet established a connection with the server.

Settings such as reporting frequency and the horizontal-accuracy threshold are pushed over-the-air — you never have to retrieve the device. Confirm a successful change via the check-in / updates icons in the dashboard.

Reporting interval and device behaviour are adjustable over-the-air from the portal
Impact reports flag collisions and rough handling

Health & Troubleshooting

Keep it reporting reliably.

First connection takes a few minutes — up to ~4 minutes for the first GPS fix and ~5 minutes to join the cellular network. Give it time before assuming a fault.
Newly received unit won’t wake? It ships in deep-sleep Shipping Mode — give it a firm shake or movement to wake it, and make sure the antenna side faces the sky.
GPS “drift” while stationary? The unit holds ~2.5 m typical accuracy; the horizontal-accuracy threshold can be tightened over-the-air to filter out jumping coordinates.
Maximising battery life: the Locate plan’s once-daily check-in minimises cellular air-time, which is what delivers up to 5 years of life.
Updates apply automatically. Firmware and configuration changes are pushed over-the-air; verify a successful check-in via the check-in / updates icons in the portal.
